Recipe
Red Wine 1 litre
Cardamom green 8 pieces
Clove 14 pieces
Star anise 4 pieces
Nutmeg 1 pinch freshly grated
Cinnamon stick 2 pieces 10 cms long
Coriander seeds 1 tea spoon
Aniseed green 1 tea spoon
Orange 1 piece
Water 500 ml
Sugar 250 g
Method
Bring water and sugar together to a boil
Remove any impurities and place sugar syrup aside
Cut the orange into quarter pieces
Place the wine cooking pot together with all the spices
Heat the wine gently up on the stove and infuse the wine with the spices
Strain the mulled wine to remove the spices
Add the sugar syrup to taste
Serve the mulled wine hot
The red wine can be replaced with white wine if desired
